Türkiye: The Reliable Address for Knitted and Woven Fabrics

According to global textile and raw materials foreign trade data, the Turkish textile sector is the world’s fifth largest textile exporter in 2023, with an export value of $11.7 billion.


The 2023 assessment of the World Textile and Raw Materials Sector Foreign Trade Report has been released. The report indicates that global textile and raw materials exports decreased by 10.5% in 2023, totaling $344 billion.


When examining global textile and raw materials exports by subcategories, woven fabrics ranked as the second most exported product group with a 21.4% share. Woven fabric exports decreased by 10.2%, amounting to $73.5 billion. Knitted fabric exports also saw a decline of 12.9%, reaching $37.3 billion.


Türkiye’s Share in Woven Fabric Exports is Increasing


In global woven fabric exports, China remains the leading exporter with a 53.8% share. China’s woven fabric exports decreased by 8.4%, totaling $39.5 billion. The European Union countries followed with $12.8 billion, and India with $3.7 billion. Türkiye’s woven fabric exports decreased by 5.5%, totaling $2.4 billion. Türkiye’s share of global woven fabric exports in 2023 was 3.2%, moving from fifth to fourth place in the global rankings.


For knitted fabrics, China leads with a 57.7% share. China’s knitted fabric exports decreased by 9.7%, amounting to $21.6 billion. The European Union countries are in second place with an 11.3% share and exports worth $4.2 billion. Türkiye is the world’s third largest supplier of knitted fabrics, with a 5.2% share and $1.9 billion in exports. Türkiye’s knitted fabric exports contracted by 6.1% in 2023.
